‘Role of Vaiko, Karunanidhi in Rajiv assassination not probed’

The chief investigating officer of the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, K Ragothaman, has alleged that the then DMK leader Vaiko, as a prosecution witness, turned hostile and escaped the charge for perjury at the behest of the former SIT chief D R Karthikeyan.

In his book ‘Conspiracy to kill Rajiv Gandhi – from CBI files’, Ragothaman said that during the investigation more than 500 video cassettes were seized, including a cassette titled ‘In tigers cave’ revealing Vaiko’s clandestine visit to the LTTE area in Jaffna.

“He was speaking vulgarly about Rajiv Gandhi and spitting venom on Rajiv. It is also found that he met Pottu Amman when he was introduced to him by Prabhakaran. Vaiko was not questioned on this. Also, he was made witness to speak about his conversation with Prabhakaran while he was kept in the Ashoka Hotel, prior to signing of Indo-Sri Lanka accord,” Ragothaman wrote.

During the trial, Vaiko refused to admit voice on a video clip of a meeting secured by investigators, in which, he is heard saying that he told Prabhakaran over the intercom in Ashoka Hotel that ‘Rajiv Gandhi stabbed him in the back and the proposed accord was not the solution for achieving Tamil Eelam.’ Soon after the meeting between Prabhakaran and Rajiv Gandhi, on the Indo-Sri Lanka accord, Vaiko had a talk with Prabhakaran on intercom.

Ragothaman has also dragged DMK patriarch Karunanidhi, who abruptly cancelled his meeting at Sriperumbudur on May 21, 1991, to the centre of controversy. Ragothaman wrote, “When I had collected the evidence about the cancellation of the meeting and brought to the notice of the chief of SIT to question the DMK leader on that issue, I was told that part of investigation was done by him and that DGP Rangasamy had requested the DMK leader to cancel the meeting. Also, I was chided by SIT chief asking me not to create such issues as I had done in Rasheed Murder case.”

Speaking to the ‘Express’, Ragothaman said that he opposed Vaiko as witness and told SIT chief that he appears to be a suspect.

“SIT chief Karthikeyan told me there was not sufficient evidence against Vaiko. Also, starting point of our investigation should have been cancellation of Karunanidhi’s trip to Sriperumbudur, but Karthikeyan did not allow probe into it,” Ragothaman said.

Karthikeyan, hailed as one of the most relentless investigators, vehemently refuted the charges authored by his own team member.

“He is flogging the dead horse. No way can anybody question the integrity of an investigation and nothing remains to be done. All the aspects were explored by the 40-member team 20 years ago and SIT had received words of appreciation from two judicial commissions on record. The Supreme Court placed on record appreciation for my leadership,” Karthikeyan told Express.

SDPI demands re-opening of probe into Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination case

Bhopal: The Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), has demanded the re-opening of the probe into former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination case after 21 years following a sensational disclosure that a crucial video of the assassination was suppressed by the then IB (Intelligence Bureau) Chief and now West Bengal Governor M. K. Narayanan.

SDPI national president Mr. E. Abubacker in a statement said that the allegation is serious. “If there such a video as claimed by the investigating officer, then it warrants another probe. The matter should be looked into,” said, Mr. Abubacker.

Mr. Abubacker said that it is learnt that when news-hounds tracked Mr. Narayanan, who is now in Melbourne on a visit, reportedly avoided direct question but at the same time there was no denial. Narayanan claims all evidence is already present with the investigating agency.

The statement stated that the chief investigating officer of the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, K. Ragothaman in his just-published book, “Conspiracy to kill Rajiv Gandhi – From CBI files”, has claimed that the tape, which had been taken from the videographer by IB the day after Rajiv Gandhi had been blown by Dhanu on May 21, 1991, was never shared with the Special Investigation Team, (SIT), in the investigation of the assassination. In the book Ragothaman said that although a “preliminary enquiry” had been conducted in connection with the missing video, Narayanan had been “allowed to go scot-free” by the SIT chief D. R. Karthikeyan.

Similarly, the statement said that Adv. S. Doraisamy, who pleaded for Nalini, one of those convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, has written a book, claiming to unravel the mysteries and nail the bungling by the SIT chief Karthikeyan. The soon-to-be published book, tentatively titled “Mysteries and Secrets Behind the Rajiv Gandhi Murder”, alleges a larger conspiracy.

SDPI chief wondered that a nation’s leader is assassinated and even that has to be suppressed. “So much for freedom of speech and expression and national security. Dig deeper, you will get to know beyond LTTE in Rajiv’s assassination. There are too many loop holes, convenient decisions taken in finishing Rajiv’s case in order to frame LTTE and put a full stop. Many facts were not properly investigated. Many issues were suppressed, as the book says, by Narayanan and Karthikeyan. Rajiv Gandhi was killed not only by the Lankan Tamils but also allegedly by some Congressmen,” he added.

He pointed out that the alleged manipulation, according to Ragothaman, was meant to erase video evidence of the kind of people Dhanu had interacted with at the venue, thereby sparing embarrassment to the Congress party in the middle of the 1991 Lok Sabha elections. The author asked: Would Narayanan have dared “to damage the goal of the Congress party, irrespective of his personal affiliation to Rajiv Gandhi’s family?” As such Narayanan’s connections are of doubtful nature and can be probed into to unravel the truth.

He said that Adv. Doraisamy, who reportedly in an interview remarked: “I have the evidence to prove that Rajiv Gandhi murder was an inside job. But the SIT headed by then Inspector General of Police Karthikeyan never pushed the investigation in the right direction”, requires a serious attention and should not be wished away.

Mr. Abubacker said that in view of the revelations made in the two books the unpleasant facts should not be swept under the carpet but thoroughly investigated to unmask the real conspirators and the culprits so that the people at large know the faces who eliminated the former Prime Minister for their vested interests.

Following the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi mysterious forces like P. V. Narsimha Rao took the top slot of Indian administration. Since Rao’s era India’s cooperation with Israel has increased manifolds at the cost of struggling Palestinian’s woes. The influence of the United States of America also increased on the Indian administration, he added.

Rajiv Assasination – Unanswered questions

Rajiv Gandhi assasination – leaves many unanswered questions – Unsolved puzzles. For whom did Rajiv Gandhi got assisinated ? Sudhangan raised various questions which didn’t get answers till 2009.

Here are those questions that are unanswered:

1) On 21 -May-1991 Rajiv gandhi started from Delhi for election campaign and reached Chennai through the route Orissa and Andra Pradesh. How did he accepted that midnight meeting at Sriperambuthur which was not in the agenda of TamilNadu Congress committe. ?

2) Is there any plan made somewhere to bring Rajiv Gandhi to Sriperambathur some how ?

3) The Security official Mr O.P.Sagar was there with Rajiv Gandhi when he campaigned at Bhubaneshwar and Vishakapattinam. But he didnt come to chennai along with Rajiv. Why ?

4) Bulgarian television journalists came along with Rajiv during his visits to record his campaigns. They were with Rajiv in Orissa and Andha Predesh but didnt come for the next meeting. They stayed in a luxary hotel at Vishakapatinam along with their special flight pilot. In that case why did they came ?

5) When Rajiv was about to start, there was a problem in the flight. So he went back to circuit house from the airport. After the problem in flight got fixed, the chief minister of Andha Pradesh Mr.VijayaBhaskar Reddy informed Rajiv to get back to airport and Rajiv went to airport. During this time the two Bulgerian journalists took the security official Sagar along in their car and arrived at airport late. So the security official could not go along with Rajiv gandhi. Why did such an experienced security official was made not to travel with Rajiv ?

6) The security official of Rajiv at chennai P.C.Gupta was waiting at chennai airport for Rajiv. P.C.Gupts is suppose to get the gun from Sagar who was expected along with Rajiv. Since Sagar has not come along with Rajiv, P.C.Gupta was made to go with Rajiv without gun. Is there any intenton behind this ?

7) When Rajiv started from Meenambakkam, two ladies claiming as journalists got inside his car at Ramavaram. Did their identities verified ? Why did the special investigation branch didnt enquire on them ?

8) Who are the Bulgarian journalists ? Where did they went ?

9) Who are those two lady journalists ? Where did they went ?

10) Those two lady journalists interviewed Rajiv Gandhi. But TamilNadu political party people, Tha. Pandiyan and Maragatham Chandrasekar were telling they didnt know what Rajiv spoke with the journalists. What are the hiding ?

11) Just one hour before his murder, Rajiv told it was CIA that killed the pakistan president Zia-ul-Haq. Why shoud he tell that ? What made him to tell that ? Did he know if there is some plan like that against him ?

12) July-1991 – The central home minister S.P.Chawan made a statement that apart from LTTE there are other international organizations and powerful external forces involved in the background of Rajiv’s murder. Who are they referred here ?

13) Why didn’t the special investination branch enquire on the above home minister’s statement ?

14) During the gulf war India helped fueling US aircrafts. Rajiv gandhi seriously condemmed this help which was done by primie minister Mr Chandrasekar during that time. Why didnt the special investigation branch enquire on CIA’s hands on this murder, as US was not happy with Rajiv for the above reason ?

15) Palestinian National Authority president, Mr. Yasser Arafat informed to the indian prime minister during the time Mr .Chandrasekar that ‘Rajiv Gandhi’s life is under threat’. From where did Arafat got this information ? Who is threatening Rajiv ? Why did special investigation branch didnt enquire on this ?

16) Arafat could have got this information if the assasination was planned at western Europe or middle eastern countries. Why is this not probed ?

17) Maragatham Chandrasekar came to attend that meeting with Rajiv Gandhi. Her daughter, Latha Priyakumar came with her husband and advocate Mahendran from Arakonam. But it was unknown from where did her son Lalith Chandrasekar and his wife Vinothini came from. Though it is known that Vinothini is daughter of Jayavarthane from Sri Lanka, they didn’t enquire on her. Infact they didnt enquire their family who was there at the meeting. why ?

18) Sivarasan’s mother and Vinothini’s father are sinhalas from Sri Lanka who were present at the incident. It is possible that they were sent by Sri Lankan president Premadasa as messangers. Premadasa is not happy with Rajiv on sending the Indian peace keeping force (IPKF) to Sri Lanka. Why was the investigation not done in that angle ? ( Also we should note here a Sinhala Sri Lankan army person hit Rajiv Gandhi with a gun during his visit to Sri Lanka )

19) Both LTTE and Sri Lanka hate Rajiv gandhi as he is the reaon for sending Indian peace keeping force (IPKF) to Sri Lanka. Advocate Mr Chandrasekar challenged special investigation branch that, if they could prove Vinothini and her family are innocent then those who did the crime will accept it on their own. But the special investination didnt accept his challence and not enquired those who is related on this. why ?

20) Kamini Disanayaka, Athulath Muthali, Wickramasinghe are prominant politicians in Sri Lanka. When all those people are murdered president Premadasa was pointed. Why did’t the investigation didnt happen in this angle ?

21) Why dont Sivarasan, Dhanu and Subha did this murder due to pressure from external forces. Just because they are Tamils from yarlpanam, did the investigators linked them with LTTE and closed the case ?

22) What is the strong evidence that links LTTE and its head Prabhakaran to Rajiv’s assasination case. ?

23) What is the proof that Srivarasan spoke to Prabhakaran thro a radio. Why is this not an assumption ?

24) It is very much possible that politicians within the congress could have considered Rajiv Gandhi is blocking their development within the party and could have hired some group to assasinate Rajiv. This motivation cannot be denied.

25) Various international business people specifically those selling weapons would have been in contact with Rajiv as a prime minister. They could have hired the assasinators to do this murder. Did investigators probed this ?

26) What if Sri Lanka did this, thinking India might send the Indian peace keeping force again to their country and didnt like a strong leader emerging from India ?

27) CIA always had interest in erradicating leaders in all third world countries. Did the same kind of interest got applied on Rajiv ?

28) Rajiv Gandhi is the only leader who prevents the other prominant political party in India BJP to get into power. It is possible that the indian parties like BJP and RSS could have used the ‘Hindu favourable’ LTTE and Sri Lankan tamils to do this assasination.

29) When other major Congress party members in Tamilnadu like Vazhapaadi and Moopanar didnt take interest in getting Rajiv to this meeting, Maragatham Chandrasekar traveled to Delhi and forced Rajiv to come for this meeting at Sriperambuthur. Is that without her knowledge she become one reason for Rajiv’s murder ?

30 ) Who is Pottu Amaan ? Is there a person like that ? LTTE says there was a senior person by name Amaan who died war and the only person there is Pottu. How did the special investigation branch stamped someone who is not alive as second criminal in this case ?

31) There are many parallels between the murder of Padmanabha and that of Rajiv Gandhi. Padmanabha’s murder was investigaed by TamilNadu queue branch police and Rajiv Gandhi’s murder was investigated by special investigation branch. Both the investigators are telling the murder was planned at Yarlpanam, Sri Lanka. Sivaraasan was identified as the prime criminal in both the Padmanabha’s case as well as Rajiv’ case. Prabhakaran was considered criminal in Rajiv’s assasination case bur was not in Padmanabha’s case. How come ? It shows adding Prabhakaran’s name came out of political decision rather than that came out from investigations. It is clearly an effort taken by special investigation branch to to give life to their case intentionally.

32) A famous Sri Lankan tamil poet Kasi. Anandan met Rajiv at the airport. What message did he got from Prabhakaran to Rajiv gandhi ? If Prabhakaran seeked Rajiv’s help in the freedom struggle of Tamil Eelam through Kasi Anandan, why would Prabhakaran murder Rajiv Gandhi ?

33) Prabhakaran knows it is from India and TamilNadu that he can get support and sympathy. Did Prabhakaran done such a foollish activity by killing Rajiv, to loose all the support of Indians and also get the organization banned ?

34) Latha Kannan stopped Rajiv and read a poetry for him. That enabled Dhanu, a suside bomber standing next to her, to burst the bomb. Why is her name is not included in the criminals list ? Dhanu used only Latha kannan to get inside. When HariBabu who got killed in the blast got included in the criminal’s list why not Latha Kannan ? Why is special investigation branch showing softness towards congress members ?

35) Before getting to SriPambuthur, Rajiv spoke at two roadside gatherings. Vazhapaadi Ramamurthy, the TamilNadu congress leader was with him in those two places. But at Sri Perambuthur meeting he was standing very far from Rajiv. Why so ?

36) Many innocent people and security personnels died along with Rajiv Gandhi. But nothing happened to any of the congress party members not even minor injury. How ?

37) It was believed that Latha Kumar who brought Sivarasan, Dhanu and Subha to SriPerambuthur. She took them specifically to ladies section and told Latha Kannan to take care of them. But Latha Kumar’s name is not in the criminal’s list. Why ?

38) How can we say Prabhakaran is involved just based on an old photograph of Sivarasan with Prabhakaran ?

39) Why is it not possible that Sivarasan, Dhanu and Subha are expelled from LTTE and they have been hired by western, European, Middle East or India as professional assasinators.

40) Ranganathan confessed that it was based on request by Margret Alva that he gave his house at Bangalore for rent to Sivarasan. Did they enquired how far this is true ?

41) Is there any investigation done on involvement of Chandra Swami, Subramanyam Swamy , Chandrasekar and arms business person Kasoki in this murder ?

42) What kind of benifit LTTE get by murdering Rajiv Gandhi ? Did super powers like US helped them by arms through CIA ?

43) Why do we need CBI & Special Investigation branch which find few people they prefer to get the reports ?

Unless all these confusions are clarified, the real culprit will be hiding behind some powerful forces.

People at the helm are protecting Rajiv murder accused’

Former Central Bureau of Investigation’s former chief investigating officer K Ragothaman has claimed in a recently published book — Conspiracy to kill Rajiv: From CBI files – that a lot of facts pertaining to the former prime minister’s assassination were either suppressed, or were studiously ignored.

Ragothamam writes that there were attempts made to protect the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam from being called the conspirators behind Rajiv’s killing. In this interview with rediff.com’s Vicky Nanjappa, Ragothaman speaks about the conspiracy and the hurdles that were faced in a probe in which many aspects were hushed up.

How has your book been received?

That is too early to tell. It is just out, but is under debate. Let us wait and watch.

You write that Dravida Munetra Kazhagam chief M Karunanidhi’s [ Images ] scheduled public meeting in Sriperumbudur on May 21, 1991, the day Rajiv was killed, was abruptly cancelled.

Karunanidhi was to address a meeting at 6′O clock that evening, two hours before Rajiv’s meeting. The police had made all arrangements. Then there was a telegram from the Anna Arivalyam postal office jurisdiction that the meeting was cancelled.

I probed the sender of that telegram. I was told to ask Karunanidhi about the same. However, I could not investigate him directly. Later, I was told by my superiors that the matter was being looked into, and I should remain quiet.

I was also told that it was a director general of police, Rangaswamy, who had advised that the meeting be cancelled. However, when I looked at the Rangaswamy affidavit, it read that he had ordered as much police force as possible in view of this meeting.

I also attended the Jain commission inquiry in which Karunanidhi was examined. He had said then that it was the then governor, Bhishma Narayan Singh, who had told him to cancel the meeting. Look at the contradictions.

Who according to you was the one who advised cancellation of the Karunanidhi meeting?

Probably it was Marumalarchi Dravida Munetra Kazhagam leader Vaiko who telephoned and sought cancellation of the meeting. The telephone records needed to be examined, but it was never done.

Why do you think Vaiko tried to stop Karunanidhi?

After Rajiv’s assassination, many DMK workers were attacked, their offices burnt. If Karunanidhi had gone there, he would have been in trouble and there would have been an onslaught. Hence, they were trying to protect him.

Does this mean even Karunanidhi was part of the plot?

No, that is not what I meant. Karunanidhi is not a killer. He wanted a democratic solution to the problem and this was never liked by slain LTTE [ Images ] chief Prabhakaran.

You accuse Vaiko of having a hand in this entire issue.

Vaiko was the one who spoke vehemently against the Indo-Jaffna accord. Vaiko said at that time he was first an LTTE, then a Tamilian and then an Indian. At the time of the accord, Prabhakaran was brought down to New Delhi [ Images ] and was put up at the Hotel Ashoka.

Vaiko sought to meet him, but he was not allowed to do so. He conversed with Prabhakaran on the intercom, during which the latter told him, “Anna, this Rajiv has betrayed me. I feel like committing suicide as he is sealing my fate. But I cannot kill myself as I need to fight for my people.”

Vaiko wrote a book later in which he mentions that Prabakaran had thought of committing suicide.

Tell us more, sir…

When Vaiko had gone to Sri Lanka [ Images ], we had secured a videotape titled Inside a Tiger’s Cave which has him on tape. There he spoke everything that was anti-Rajiv. It appeared that he was more against Rajiv than Prabakaran himself. This was also a point noted during our investigation.

Then there is also a meeting in which Vaiko says that Rajiv won’t go back alive from Tamil Nadu. He, however, retracted that statement. During the investigation, we questioned one Chinna who is on death row.

He said that in one of the hideouts, Sivarasan (the prime accused in the assassination) held talks with one Srinivas Ayya and said that after the successful completion of the mission, they should ensure that Vaiko becomes the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

Why was the evidence not used then?

This is a question that I have been asking. We had so much evidence, but surprisingly Vaiko was roped in as prosecution witness number 250 in the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities court.

During the trial, he denied speaking all of which was on video with Prabhakaran. The video was played out. He claimed that it was him in the video but the voice was not his. It was sent for examination and the voice too was confirmed, but till date there is no perjury case against him.

You have alleged that even the Intelligence Bureau and the Research and Analysis Wing tried to cover up LTTE’s role?

After the assassination, Chandrashekhar, the then prime minister, convened a meeting in which even Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy (then minister of commerce and industry) was present. The then IB chief, MK Narayanan, and RAW boss, GS Bajpai, were also present.

Swamy said that it was obvious that the LTTE was responsible. Bajpai retorted that it was not the LTTE. The meeting was adjourned. Meanwhile, the CBI director had gone to Colombo for the investigation.

They were called back and rushed to Delhi for the meeting. During the meeting, it was again asked why a trip was made to Colombo and did that mean it was preconceived that it was the LTTE which was behind the assassination.

Bajpai once again opposed this. He even quoted one Kittu to be his source. Kittu, incidentally, was Prabhakaran’s right hand man. An LTTE man could never have been a RAW mole and even Dr Swamy had termed this as absurd.

What are your allegations against Narayanan?

A video taken at the meeting on that ill-fated day in which there were images of Dhanu was never made available to the CBI. The assassination team was waiting for nearly two hours in a sterile area. The original video reached Narayanan.

The government had decided to conduct an investigation in this regard and this case was registered with the Special Investigating Team and the CBI. However, it was buried. My question is, why no action has been taken for suppressing evidence.

It was being said that Dhanu had barged into the meeting, but this video clearly shows that they were waiting for a long time. We probed this case risking our own lives and it does upset me that people sitting at the helm of affairs are protecting the accused.

Do you think the loopholes will be rectified now?

Let us see.

Covering up Late PM Rajiv Gandhi Assassination conspiracy & BOFORS SCAM

The CBI & GOI is more interested in favoring accused persons , Quattrochi & closing BOFORS Case than punishing the guilty.

The GOI & investigating authorities have failed to punish the real master minds behind the Late Prime minister Shri . Rajiv Gandhi assassination case .

When a responsible Indian citizen volunteered to appear before the supreme court of india as an amicus curie , to give certain information before the court relating to this assassination , he was not at all permitted. Instead he was threatened , attempts made to murder him , his news paper was closed , his jobs were illegally snatched away , police & investigating agencies repeatedly grilled him , THE PURPOSE IS TO SILENCE THAT PERSON . The Police failed to act upon his complaints. The Supreme Court of India Failed to admit his PIL Petitions. ALL TO COVER UP THE POWERS THAT BE .

who are covering-up late p.m. rajiv gandhi assassination case? who are those conspirators? who are trying to silence me?

My sufferings began hand in hand with my crusade. I have raised various issues of social concern from time to time at the appropriate levels, one of those is LATE P.M. RAJIV GANDHI ASASSINATION CASE. where-in only the tools of the conspirator’s were punished where as the conspirators are roaming free. i have raised this topic of inequity , travesty of justice and sought a fair, proper enquiry& trial , at various forums. but to no avail.

the conspirators were disturbed by this and tried to silence me by threatening me, physically assaulting me and even made attempts to murder me. they prevented me from appearing before the JAIN COMMISSION OF ENQUIRY. they even manipulated the recruitment systems to deny me the appointments in R.B.I.CURRENCY NOTE PRESS MYSORE, P.E.S. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING MANDYA, N.I.E MYSORE , District Court Mysore & Illegally snatched away my job in RPG Cables Ltd , Mysore . they even tried to silence me by forcibly closing down my newspaper publications THE TESTUDO & VOICE OF CRUSADER.

my appeals for justice resulted only in police enquiries. the central intelligence bureau(I.B.) state intelligence & state police personnel enquired me exhaustively number of times, but they never did enquire the powers that be. any way these people don’t have practical powers to enquire such people. the highest constitutional functionaries who can order a proper enquiry, trial are keeping mum inspite of repeated appeals. probably they are acting under the directions of conspirators. thereby they are not only covering up the crime, they are actively sponsoring terrorism , but are also violating my fundamental/human rights & obstructing me from performing my fundamental duties as a citizen of india.

My sufferings began hand in hand with my crusade. I have raised various issues of social concern from time to time at the appropriate levels, one of those is LATE P.M. RAJIV GANDHI ASASSINATION CASE. where-in only the tools of the conspirator's were punished where as the conspirators are roaming free. i have raised this topic of inequity , travesty of justice and sought a fair, proper enquiry& trial , at various forums. but to no avail.

the conspirators were disturbed by this and tried to silence me by threatening me, physically assaulting me and even made attempts to murder me. they prevented me from appearing before the JAIN COMMISSION OF ENQUIRY. they even manipulated the recruitment systems to deny me the appointments in R.B.I.CURRENCY NOTE PRESS MYSORE, P.E.S. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING MANDYA, N.I.E MYSORE , District Court Mysore & Illegally snatched away my job in RPG Cables  Ltd , Mysore . they even tried to silence me by forcibly closing down my newspaper publications THE TESTUDO & VOICE OF CRUSADER.

my appeals for justice resulted only in police enquiries. the central intelligence bureau(I.B.) state intelligence & state police personnel enquired me exhaustively number of times, but they never did enquire the powers that be. any way these people don't have practical powers to enquire such people. the highest constitutional functionaries who can order a proper enquiry, trial are keeping mum inspite of repeated appeals. probably they are acting under the directions of conspirators. thereby they are not only covering up the crime, they are actively sponsoring terrorism , but are also violating my fundamental/human rights & obstructing me from performing my fundamental duties as a citizen of india.

hereby , i do request you to protect my fundamental & human rights and to facilitate me to perform my FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES as a citizen of india.also, i do request you to give me information about following cases ,it's final reports& it's action taken report.

An LTTE-Sonia family link?

S. Gurumurthy,Newindpress

April 29 2008

The LTTE suicide squad did plan and eliminate Rajiv Gandhi. But, why did the LTTE do it? Was there a larger conspiracy that extended beyond the LTTE as the strike force?

Was the LTTE the author of the crime or the mercenary for some one else or for some purpose that yielded some benefit to it? These questions persisted even after the actual assassins were brought to book.

The Narasimha Rao government appointed the Jain Commission to go into the conspiracy angle to the murder. In its interim report the commission did exceedingly good work to bring on record evidence about the political forces involved in promoting the LTTE in Tamil Nadu that made the crime possible.

Yet it made a mockery of its main work, the conspiracy angle. It floated dubious and wild theories, involving Mossad! CIA! Besides adding confusion, it ended up trivialising a very serious exercise. This also robbed the commission of its credibility.

As the commission’s final report proved a flop, the Vajpayee government appointed a Multi- Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA) in 1998 to unearth the conspiracy angle.

But the person who first demanded, but, ultimately made, investigation into the conspiracy to murder Rajiv Gandhi irrelevant was none other than his widow Sonia Gandhi.

Her attitude to the investigation and suspected actors in the murder dramatically changed. Her conduct in 1997 when she was working to enter active politics was a stark contrast to her attitude after taking over the congress leadership on the Jain Commission issue.

In 1997, she demanded that the DMK which, the Jain commission had said, was part of the conspiracy, be sacked as a partner of the UF alliance and pulled down the government when the demand was not met. Her party insisted the entire facts about the conspiracy be investigated and revealed.

Addressing a meeting at Amethi, Sonia hinted that the DMK was a fan of the LTTE and charged that those who doubted the Jain commission report were diverting the attention from the investigation into the conspiracy to murder Rajiv and demanded that the probe be completed expeditiously (Indian Express 2.2.1998).

But, once she took over the party leadership, she not only ceased to evince any interest in pursuing the Rajiv Gandhi murder conspiracy, but also began allying with the alleged conspirators themselves.

The developments, put together, reveal a shocking picture. The year after taking over the Congress, Sonia Gandhi makes a secret move.

In the year 1999, she told then President Dr K R Narayanan privately that ‘neither she nor her son and daughter wanted any of the four convicts’ sentenced to death for Rajiv’s assassination ‘to be hanged’, and pleaded that no child should be orphaned by an act of the State.

Noted the Indian Express (Nov 20, 1999) that before her plea for mercy to the Rajiv killers the Congress party was the leading opponent of mercy to them. This silenced the party once and for all.

What transpired at her private meeting with the President was revealed not by Sonia, but by Mohini Giri (the former chairperson of the National Women’s Commission) and on that basis Nalini’s death sentence was commuted to life. (Frontline Nov 5-18, 2005).

Then, in February 2004, there were reports, editorially commented by the Island newspaper in Colombo on Feb 20, 2004, that Eduardo Faleiro, her emissary, had a secret meeting with the LTTE chief Prabhakaran at Killinochi. Island had also referred to reports that Sonia’s mother Ms Paula Maino had met Anton Balasingham, LTTE’s point man in London, in connection with the electoral alliance between the DMK and the Congress. While Eduardo Faleiro at least made a feeble attempt to deny the meeting, Paulo Maino would not even deny that.Third, the Paulo Maino meeting preceded, and the Faleiro meeting succeeded, the unbelievable U-turn of Sonia Gandhi to forge alliance with the DMK which was accused by her own party in 1997 of being part of the conspiracy to murder her husband. The DMK-Congress alliance seems to have been agreed upon sometime in December 2003. In January 2004, Sonia met the DMK chief and concretised the alliance.

The coming together of one of the alleged conspirators and the victim of the conspiracy made a mockery of any further investigation into Rajiv Gandhi murder.

For the last four years there is not a single word spoken by Sonia on pursuing the Rajiv Gandhi murderers and on unearthing the conspiracy or for the extradition of Prabhakaran or Pottu Amman.

This is despite the fact that, when, on April 10, 2002, Prabhakaran met the press at Killinochi, he did not even deny that LTTE was involved in Rajiv assassination.

Fourth, the LTTE too responded favourably to signals from Sonia that she was not against LTTE.

On January 27, 2006, Anton Balasingham, told an Indian TV news channel that the Rajiv killing was ‘monumental tragedy’ and asked the people of India to be ‘magnanimous to put the past behind’ and deal with the LTTE.

Fifth, Sonia did not object to the inclusion of the DMK woman MP in whose house Sivarasan the main killer of Rajiv Gandhi had stayed for which she was detained under the TADA, as a minister in the UPA government.

Sixth, the MDMA which was appointed by the NDA government after Sonia rejected the Action Taken Report on the Jain Commission, has virtually become defunct under the UPA regime.

Since 2004, she has not uttered a single word asking what the MDMA is doing.

And finally now in March 2008, Priyanka Vadra, Sonia’s daughter makes a secret visit to Vellore jail and meets the first accused in the murder of Rajiv, for over an hour.

Media reports say that they sat by each other’s side, cried and professed goodwill towards each other! No one knows what transpired between them. The meeting clearly illegal, looks almost a conspiracy, would have remained a secret had the media not exposed it.

Priyanka said that neither Sonia nor Rahul or Priyanka believe in hate or anger, and that the visit was her way of coming to terms with the Rajiv Gandhi murder.

Moral high ground seems to be a cover for undisclosed political strategies. But where was this high moral ground when Sonia angrily pulled down the UF government on the ground that DMK, a suspected co-conspirator with LTTE, was part of the alliance?

Is Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination a personal affair between the Sonia Gandhi family and the LTTE for the former to punish or pardon the latter?

LTTE has neither confessed nor regretted its action for the Gandhis to pardon. The LTTE is even today unrepenting.

The prosecution case is that the LTTE supremo decided to avenge Rajiv Gandhi for sending IPKF to Sri Lanka and betraying the LTTE. But that was no personal decision of Rajiv Gandhi. The assassination was an act against the state of India.

This is how it should be seen and pursued. Neither Sonia nor Priyanka nor the Congress has the right to pardon the criminals who have challenged the sovereignty of India.

QED: Sonia Gandhi family and the LTTE connection is mysterious. Is the maverick Dr Subramanian Swamy right after all in his theory that LTTE and the Maino family have had links before?  http://www.newindpress.com/NewsItems.asp?ID=IEM20080428231348&Title=Main+Article&rLink=0

RAJIV  ASSASSINATED

The French Intelligence Agencies as per a regular routine Intelligence Drill, keep under heavily Intelligence Surveillance all the activities of all the Foreigners in all the Five Star Hotels.politicsparty.com has learnt from highly placed sources that, “In the course of the routine surveillance the Intelligence Agencies of France have in their possession On Camera Footage of a now Highly Classified Recording of a Secret Meeting at a Paris Five Star Hotel in 1991.”The L.T.T.E was fighting through the use of Terrorism for the separation of the Tamil portion of the country from Sri Lanka. Rajiv Gandhi as Prime Minister had sent the Indian Army to Sri Lanka to assist the Government forces there to fight and destroy the L.T.T.E. The Indian Army was finally withdrawn from Sri Lanka without achieving success. Rajiv thus became an enemy of the L.T.T.E.Rajiv lost power in 1989 Lok Sabha Elections. In 1991, Rajiv Gandhi was the Congress President, Chandrashekar was the Prime Minister. The Lok Sabha Elections were announced after Rajiv withdrew the Congress support to the Chandrashekar Government. The L.T.T.E. Chief had sent two L.T.T.E delegations to New Delhi in 1991, to meet and discuss with Rajiv Gandhi, to understand his attitude towards the L.T.T.E. After these meetings the L.T.T.E. Chief was not convinced that Rajiv would be soft on the L.T.T.E. In fact Prabhakaran expected Rajiv to be hostile to the L.T.T.E.In the 1991 Elections Rajiv was not expected to come back to power. However the L.T.T.E. did not want the risk of allowing Rajiv to come to power.Rajiv Gandhi and his Congress won a massive victory in 1984 because of the nationwide sympathy generated by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s Assassination by her Sikh Bodyguards. Rajiv’s Congress won 414 Lok Sabha MPs. Rajiv looked like being Prime Minister forever. However, Rajiv got in to a serious Credibility Problem when the HDW Submarine Deal Broke. Rajiv threw out the then Defence Minister V.P.Singh from the Party. Rajiv’s Coterie made a loyal V.P.Singh an enemy of Rajiv.Thereafter the Bofors Gun Deal Scam tumbled out of the Swedish Closet. Rajiv handled the Bofors Scam horribly. Rajiv’s former aides manipulated to destroy Rajiv and Rajiv’s Politics. Rajiv lost complete credibility. Rajiv’s Congress won 195 MPs but lost the Lok Sabha Elections and the Central Government in 1989. The V.P.Singh Government came to power and demonstrated quickness in getting the Bofors Pay Offs in Foreign Bank Accounts Sealed. The Bofors Money Trail led directly to the Italian Wheeler-Dealer Ottavio Quattrocchi.Quattrocchi realized that India’s Opposition Politicians and Anti-Congress Governments in their passion to expose Rajiv would chase the Bofors Scam and all its beneficiaries. However, in that process the involvement of Quattrocchi would be completely exposed. Quatrocchi believed that Rajiv and his Congress were not winning the 1991 Elections. The Third Front Government of V.P.Singh was expected to win. The V.P. Singh Government would accelerate investigation in to the Bofors Scam. Quattrocchi’s role in the Bofors Scam would be completely exposed thus leading to the jailing of Quattrocchi.Quattrocchi panicked. There was only one way for Quattrocchi to survive. The Bofors scam must be buried. The Bofors Enquiry cannot be stopped if Rajiv was Alive. If Rajiv was not there then the Political System would lose interest in the Bofors Scam. So to bury the Bofors Scam Burying Rajiv was a necessity for Quattrocchi. Only then could Quattrocchi happily survive and enjoy the millions looted from India’s Public Exchequer.Anton Balasingham was the Principal Adviser, Most Trusted Lieutenant, Globe Trotting Apex Negotiator, Vital Deal Maker, Super Strategist, Spokesman and Personal Friend of the Chief of the L.T.T.E. Velupillai Prabhakaran.Sources say that, “Quattrocchi got in touch with the L.T.T.E. The meeting with the L.T.T.E. was fixed in a Five Star Hotel in Paris.Ottavio Quattrocchi and Anton Balasingham met. Quattrocchi convinced Balasingham that Rajiv’s death was vital to both. If Rajiv were dead then the Bofors Scam would die. If Rajiv was dead then the L.T.T.E. could be confident that the Indian Army will not go to Sri Lanka to destroy the L.T.T.E. Quattrocchi handed over Bags of Dollars to Balasingham as payment for Rajiv’s Assassination. The entire meeting and conversation between Ottavio Quattrocchi and Anton Balasingham was Recorded by the French Intelligence Agencies.”On the day of his Assassination Rajiv Gandhi was in Vishakapatnam. Rajiv was campaigning for his fond candidate Uma Gajapati Raju. Rajiv was enjoying the campaigning. Rajiv was in no mood to leave Vishakapatnam, on that evening.A Trio of Congress Busybodies including P.V.Narasimha Rao made frantic Phone Calls from New Delhi urging Rajiv to leave Vishakapatnam and fly to Chennai. Rajiv keen on spending the night at Vishakapatnam, tried avoiding to go to Chennai. Rajiv made an excuse that his aircraft was not in perfect order. The Congress Busybodies of Delhi got the Aircraft speedily checked, repaired and told Rajiv that it was ready. The Congress Busybodies forced a reluctant-to-leave-Vishakapatnam Rajiv, to fly from Vishakapatnam to Chennai enroute to Sriperumbudur in Tamilnadu.Rajiv flew to Chennai and went by road to Sriperumbudur. As soon as the cavalcade of cars of Rajiv and the Tamilnadu State leaders accompanying Rajiv reached Sriperumbudur, Rajiv got out of the car and walked through the crowd to the Dias. When any national leader visits any part of the country then the moment the leader gets down from the Aircraft, the entire State Leadership of his Party surrounds him. The State Leaders stick to him through out the Visit until he gets back in to the Airport. If a Photograph is taken at any given minute of the visit, the Photo will contain the National Leader and the Top State Leaders. Whether it is Vajpayee, Advani, Rajnath Singh, Sonia or any national leader the scenario is the same. Every Photo Frame will consist of the National leader being surrounded by State Leaders. When Rajiv alighted at Sriperumbudur all the state Leaders were there. However, each of the Tamilnadu State Leaders suddenly decided to keep away from Rajiv. From the car, Rajiv walked through the crowd unaccompanied by any State Leader. So, when the Human Bomb Exploded, Rajiv was Blown to pieces, but not a single Tamilnadu State Leader Died with him. G.K.Moopanar, P.Chidambaram, Maragatham Chandrashekar and several Other Tamilnadu state Leaders did not walk with Rajiv. Strange and Impossible. But the Tamilnadu State leaders allowed Rajiv to walk the Death-Walk Alone. In the Final Photo Frame of Rajiv Gandhi, no Tamilnadu State leader was present with Rajiv. Were all these State Leaders aware that Rajiv would be killed and hence kept away from Rajiv to save their lives? The Investigation in to the Rajiv Assassination has not interrogated or put on the Lie Detector Test and the Narco-Analysis Test the Congress Bigwigs who insisted that Rajiv must leave Vishakapatnam and go to Tamilnadu, that Assassination night. Why?Similarly the Investgation did not interrogate and subject to a Lie Detector and a Narco Analysis Test the Tamilnadu Congress State Leaders who deserted Rajiv immediately after he got out of the car at Sriperumbudur. Why?Intelligence Agencies Sources say that the International Arms Dealer Adnan Kashogi provided the Bomb Belt worn by the L.T.T.E.’s suicide Human Bomb to assassinate Rajiv Gandhi. India’s Investigation never pursued this lead. Why?Later P.V.Narasimha Rao’s son Prabhakar Rao and Adnan Kashogi’s Son were involved in a UREA SCAM. The Government of India in Dollars issued 125 crores even before the Urea arrived in India. Till today the Urea has not arrived. The 125 Crores has not been recovered from Narasimha Rao’s Son. Now the Manmohan Singh Government has allowed the Crores of Rupees in the Swiss Banks to be defreezed. Narasimha Rao deserved to be in jail for corruption but Manmohan calls him a Saint.India’s Investigation in to the Rajiv Assassination has not investigated P.V.Narasimha Rao and Adnan Kashoggi’s Family to ascertain the facts and complicity, if any, in the Assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. Why?Ottavio Quattrocchi was the Mastermind in the Conspiracy to Assassinate Rajiv Gandhi. But Quattrocchi was never investigated. Why?The Intelligence Agencies of France, Israel and the United States of America have Highly Classified Secret Data pertaining to all the details of the Rajiv Gandhi Assassination.Israel, France and US are all Democracies. All three nations are closely involved with India in the International war against terrorism. It is their responsibility to provide India with every bit of evidence and information that they and their Intelligence agencies possess about the Assassination of R ajiv Gandhi. So far these Nations have not given India any information because the government of India has not requested them. The moment India requests these countries then they will give to India, all the information they have.Politicsparty.com Requests the Parliament of India to ensure that the Government of India obtains all the information pertaining to the Assassination of Rajiv Gandhi available with the Intelligence Agencies of France, Israel and the US and discloses all the information to India’s Parliament.politicsparty.com Requests the Parliament of India to ensure that an investigation is ordered in to the Role of Ottavio Quattrocchi in the Assassination of Rajiv Gandhi.Quattrocchi must be arrested, brought to India put on a Lie Detector Test and a Narco-Analysis Test and Questioned about his Role in the Conspiracy to Assassinate Rajiv Gandhi.politicsparty.com expects India’s Parliament to do justice to one of its Assassinated Member of Parliament Rajiv Gandhi.President of India Kalam is now in France. The Government of India must request President Kalam to request the French President to make available to India the Tapes of the Secret Meeting in the Paris Hotel and all other information involving the Assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. The People of India must know the truth about the Assassination of Rajiv and the Conspirators must be arrested, prosecuted and given the Death Sentence.

DMK helped LTTE assassinate Rajiv Gandhi.

Munnetra Kazhagam, DMK Leader

India’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party (DMK) and its leader Karunanidhi who is the chief minister of Tamil Nadu came in for strong criticism in the interim report of a retired judge who probed the circumstances leading to the killing in 1991 by an LTTE female suicide bomber. Indian officials blamed the killing on Sri Lankan Tamil Tiger terrorists, who the judge said had received support in the past from the DMK.

In 1976, Gandhi's federal government dismissed Karunanidhi's government, which was accused of corruption. A year later, MGR won local elections and sent Karunanidhi into political wilderness until MGR's death in 1987.

After a year of direct rule by the federal government, the DMK party regained power in Tamil Nadu in 1989. Two years later the federal government dismissed Karunanidhi for a second time, accusing him of not doing enough to crack down on the Tamil Tigers in his state.

Further, the Commission said, the LTTE was getting its supplies, including arms, ammunition, explosives, fuel and other essential items from Tamil Nadu to continue its fight against the IPKF that too with the support of the DMK Government, State Administration and connivance of the law enforcement agencies.

The report said that soon after the DMK Government took over the reins of power in Tamil Nadu, "the LTTE slowly began to consolidate itself in the State and their clandestine activities, heretofore dormant, became more and more pronounced. All the activities of the LTTE at this stage towards resource mobilisation, propaganda and treatment of their wounded cadres, had taken an anti-national dimension.''

The Commission noted the visit of the then DMK MP, Mr. V. Gopalaswamy, MP (DMK) to Northern Sri Lanka and his reported meeting with Prabhakaran between February 8, 1989, and March 3, 1989.

"This visit by Mr. V. Gopalaswamy, and the manner in which this entire episode was dealt with by the DMK party sent clear signals to the pro-LTTE anti-IPKF elements in the State as well as LTTE itself that the newly-elected Government would not resort to any drastic action against such elements; on the other hand, the impression that the entire episode created was that pro-LTTE gestures, even if they were illegal, would be tolerated by the Government.''

The Commission's report said the then Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, was keen that "some satisfactory solution be arrived at with the LTTE so that the Indo-Sri Lankan Accord could be implemented in letter and spirit. He discussed this concern with Mr. Karunanidhi and sought his assistance.'' After Mr. V. P. Singh became the Prime Minister on December 2, 1989, it was spelt out that if no solution came, India would no longer give any military or monetary help to any of the groups, nor allow its mainland to be used for militant activities. "The LTTE remained adamant during their parleys with Mr. Karunanidhi, and continued to demand the formation of Eelam,'' the report noted.

The interim report said that credible reports existed of "active connivance of some DMK leaders with the LTTE. The LTTE was in continuous interaction with Mr. Karunanidhi, primarily to ensure that their activities continue unhindered even after the Padmanabha killing.'' The ATR "noted'' the observation of the Commission that there was a nexus between the LTTE and the ULFA and their combined endeavours in Tamil Nadu had also been confirmed.

The Commission's report ponders over questions of aid to the LTTE in the killing of Rajiv Gandhi. "Were there other forces behind the LTTE involved in the conspiracy for the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi? These are questions requiring a deep and anxious probe,'' the report said referring to conspiratorial aspects which were yet to be dealt with by the one-man probe panel.

Soon after the DMK Government took over the reins of power in Tamil Nadu, the LTTE slowly began to consolidate itself in the State. During 1990, a growing nexus between the LTTE and DMK and its repercussions on the local law enforcement machinery were discernible. The assassination of EPRLF leader K. Padmanabha and others at Madras on 19th June 1990 was a shocking reminder of the impunity with which the LTTE could operate in India.

The case assumes significance due to the fact that striking similarities were found in the Padmanabha assassination and the case relating to the assassination of Shri Rajiv Gandhi. It can, therefore, be safely concluded that the growing connivance of the DMK Government with the LTTE having been brought to the knowledge of the National Front Government, effective steps were not taken by the Central government to check it, whatever may be the reasons.

From the evaluation of the material, the conclusion is irresistible that there was tacit support to the LTTE by Shri M. Karunanidhi and his Government and law enforcement agencies.

The charges, put together as long quotations from the report, include: that the DMK provided a safe sanctuary for the LTTE cadres and activists, it gave advice, active assistance, finance and security cover to LTTE operations, and that the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi would not have been possible the way it happened without the nexus between the LTTE and the DMK, a nexus which started a chain of events which led to the survival and growth of the LTTE in Tamil Nadu long after the Government of India's attitude had changed towards the LTTE and hostilities had broken out between the Indian Peace Keeping Force and the LTTE in Sri Lanka, and finally that the DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr. M. Karunanidhi, had "himself been instrumental in ensuring that things went smoothly for LTTE'' and that the cadres of the LTTE had little fear of the security agencies in India "thanks to the patronage of the DMK Government''.

RAJIV  GADHI'S  MURDER - Inside Job ?

tehelka.com http://www.tehelka.com/ive-evidence-to-prove-that-rajiv-gandhis-murder-was-an-inside-job/?singlepage=1

Jeemon Jacob

‘I’ve evidence to prove that Rajiv Gandhi’s murder was an inside

job’

S DORAISAMY, 69, is known in Chennai’s legal circles as a man of conviction. He actively participated in DMK campaigns and was close to top-ranking LTTE leaders, including V Prabhakaran.

Practising at the Madras High

Court since 1970, criminal law was Doraisamy’s fascination more than specialisation. He was detained during the

Emergency and underwent a year’s imprisonment just 10 days after his marriage. He was defense counsel for

Nalini, who was given death sentence, later commuted to life, in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

Now, Doraisamy has written a book, claiming to unravel the mysteries and nail the bunglings by the Special Investigation

Team (SIT) headed by DR Karthikeyan. The soon-to-be published book, tentatively titled Mysteries and Secrets Behind the Rajiv Gandhi Murder, alleges a larger conspiracy.

The SIT chargesheeted 26 accused, of whom 19 were acquitted by the Supreme Court. The SC upheld the conviction of seven people on the basis of confessions

made when they were in SIT custody. In a candid chat, Doraisamy tells Jeemon Jacob about the revelations in the

book. Tehelka, however, cannot vouch for the veracity of the claims made by Doraisamy in this interview.

Conspiracy theory Doraisamy says the SIT botched up the probe into Rajiv Gandhi’s murder , Photo: Jeemon Jacob

Excerpts From An Interview

You have appeared for Nalini, one of those convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

Now, 11-and-a-half years after her sentence was confirmed, you have come up with a book saying there was a bigger conspiracy in the case and it’s an inside job. What evidence do you have to support your allegations?

I have the evidence to prove that the Rajiv Gandhi murder was an inside job. But the SIT headed by then Inspector General of Police DR Karthikeyan never pushed the investigation in the right direction.

The CBI took over the investigation on 24 May 1991, three days after the brutal murder. The team consisted of Karthikeyan, four DIGs, eight SPs, 14 deputy SPs, 44 inspectors and 55 subinspectors and constables. The members were handpicked by

Karthikeyan.

Most of them have a proven track record. They investigated the case for almost a year and filed the

chargesheet on 20 May 1992. But the chargesheet revealed holes in the investigation and the bungling of the SIT.

Even a constable would have done a better job in the case if he had got one year to investigate it. The designated

court has convicted all the accused and it’s a fact that the SC acquitted 19 of the accused as the court found there

was no substance in the evidence produced to prove their role in the conspiracy.

You are making only general statements regarding the SC verdict. Would you give supporting  evidence to prove your point that there was a bigger conspiracy?

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 21 May at 10.20 pm at Sriperumbudur when he was about to campaign for Maragatham Chandrasekar, the Congress candidate. Rajiv had already completed his campaign in  Tamil Nadu.

But on 18 May, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) charted his tour and included the campaign at Sriperumbudur

after Visakhapatnam.

But Dina Thanthi, a Tamil daily, published a news item on 17 May that Rajiv was going to address an election rally at Sriperumbudur on 21 May. None of the Congress leaders were aware about such a meeting.

On 18 May, the committee responsible for Rajiv’s tour programme held a meeting at AICC and finalised

the tour. How was the Dina Thanthi reporter able to write a story on Rajiv’s tour schedule before it was finalised by

the AICC?

On 19 May, Vazhapadi Ramamurthy, then Tamil Nadu Congress chief, objected to Rajiv addressing a rally at

Sriperumbudur and staying there — he made this clear when he deposed before the trial court. His objections were

never taken into consideration as Maragatham was using her clout in Delhi to get Rajiv to address a meeting in her

constituency.

So the meeting was scheduled and local Congress leaders approached the police authorities to grant permission to hold the meeting at a school ground. But later, for reasons known to Maragatham, the venue was changed to a temple ground.

For changing the venue, the Congress leaders never sought police permission. And there was no proper security

arrangement at the meeting. Despite Congress leaders’ objection, Rajiv was scheduled to stay at Sriperumbudur

where there was only a tourist bungalow in a dilapidated state. Then Tamil Nadu Governor Bhishma Narain Singh

objected to Rajiv’s stay in Sriperumbudur.

But the Congress leaders were told that Maragatham would take care of

his stay at her village and she had found a pawnbroker’s house for his stay. But police officials ruled out the house on security grounds.

Holes in the SIT Probe

• Who manufactured the belt bomb for Dhanu? From where was the denim for the belt and the RDX purchased?

• What was the role played by the businessman Deril Peter who was killed in Sriperumbudur? He was booked to fly

to the US on 30 May. His wife, who was working with Central Public Works Department, later migrated to the US.

• Why were AICC officials reluctant to cooperate with the probe? They did not reveal the original tour schedule,

saying it was with the party spokesperson.

Later, a schedule was handed over to the CBI on 28 November by a Delhi Police SI.

• The husband of Latha Kannan, who was a Class IV employee, bought a lorry after the assassination. (Latha and

her daughter were in the queue to garland Rajiv along with Dhanu.) Where did he get the money?

• SIT DIG Sri Kumar was sent to London for investigation. His report was never produced in the trial court nor was

he cross-examined. During his visit to London, he said that a box containing important case files was lost. But no

action was taken.

• MK Narayanan, then IB director, wrote to the Cabinet Secretary saying the IB was in possession of a video of the

Sriperumbudur rally. But it was never produced as evidence.

• Shanmugam, a small-time smuggler, took his life in SIT custody. His death is still a mystery.

But you can’t blame Maragatham for facilitating the killers on these grounds. Do you have any other

evidence to prove her role?

I don’t blame her for the conspiracy for killing Rajiv. But the evidence is against her. In (prime accused) Sivarasan’s

diary, it’s stated that he had paid Rs 5 lakh as donation to Lalit Chandrasekar, Maragatham’s son, for organising the

Sriperumbudur rally.

This was revealed in his book by Ragothaman, chief investigating officer of the SIT, that probed the Rajiv case. But when I cross-examined him, he never divulged such information nor produced the diary before the trial court as evidence. In his book, he also stated that when he went to meet Lalit, who was in hospital

after the blast, he asked him whether he could identify (the suicide bomber) Dhanu from a photograph. He said that he didn’t remember her. But his daughter, who was deaf and dumb, tried to identify Dhanu.

Then Lalit became angry and asked his wife to take his daughter away from the room. But the CBI never investigated the reasons behind the Rs 5 lakh donation and how Sivarasan and Dhanu came in contact with Maragatham’s family. It’s a fact

that Lalit’s wife was a Sri Lankan Tamil.

I’m sure that Sivarasan would not pay Rs 5 lakh for nothing. If he had paid Rs 5 lakh, he received help from Lalit.

Even after the book was published, Lalit never sued Ragothaman. When I was cross-examining Maragatham, I

specifically asked her whether she knew any of the accused, especially Sivarasan or Dhanu. But she objected to

the question and approached the court to grant permission to take legal action against me for making such remarks.

The court granted the permission, but she never sued me for that remark.

Why have you stated in the book that there was a bigger  conspiracy involving powerful people at the

national or international level behind Rajiv’s assassination?

Right from charting the tour programme to the execution of the murder, there was the hand of the unknown.

The entries in Sivarasan’s diaries were vital pieces of evidence. In the entries, Sivarasan had noted, “Departure of Rajiv

4.30 pm; arrival at Madras 6 pm.” But the helicopter could not take off from Visakhapatnam until 6.15 pm due to a

technical snag. But Sivarasan had known the flight was delayed. According to the SIT, he was travelling in a bus

from Madras to Sriperumbudur. There were no mobile phones or pagers then.

So it’s clear that Sivarasan was informed about the delay and later he was sure that Rajiv would address the

meeting. It was not accidental or guesswork. At least I don’t believe that Sivarasan had the sixth sense to know

about things happening in Visakhapatnam when he was travelling in a bus.

Anything more on the conspiracy angle?

Yes. When Rajiv was boarding from Vizag, three strangers, including a woman, approached him, breaking the

security cordon. This was stated by the station officer of the naval airport. The police never verified their identity and

they vanished after the aircraft took off from Vizag.

So it proves that Rajiv’s movements were monitored closely. But

the SIT never investigated that angle.

Your book reveals that Sivarasan had visited Bhopal and paid Rs 1. 71 crore to TAG. Do you know who TAG

is?

No idea. One of Sivarasan’s diaries, seized from the house of Jayakumar (marked as evidence No. MO 180) says

he had paid Rs 1.71 crore to TAG and the balance was Rs 45,000. The diary notings were dated 13 March 1991.

But the SIT never followed the leads. If it had done so, it would have unravelled the conspirators behind the Rajiv

murder case. But unfortunately it didn’t happen and innocent people were prosecuted. The amount was not paid in

cheque, it was hard cash. His entry dated 8 March 1991 mentions a place in Madhya Pradesh:

Aathirai, one of the accused in the Rajiv case, moved a petition before the Madras High Court stating that she

wanted to disclose more information about Sivarasan on 25 September 1992.

Her petition reads as follows:

“When I was in Jaffna, I met one Sivarasan who had left the LTTE movement and was frequenting India. I sought

his help to go to Germany from India.

On arrival at Madras, Sivarasan told me he has been engaged by some

Congress leader to do a certain job and offered a large amount and a job in a foreign country. He asked me to join

him in the execution of the job. But I refused. He later confided that one Mr Kalyanaraman, manager at AICC

headquarters, had entrusted him with the execution of the job and informed me that Rajiv would visit Madras on 21

May and would stay at Sriperumbudur.

On 22 May, Sivarasan told me he had executed the job with Dhanu’s help.

He told me to go to Delhi and said Kalyanaraman would help me get a passport to go to Germany.”

But nobody took notice of her petition and the CBI never verified whether her statements were true.

‘I wanted to tell what went wrong in the Rajiv case. It will be some consolation for 19 innocent people who spent almost eight years in prison without parole’

Your book reveals the drama and foul play in the Bangalore operation. Then why was it never exposed?

On 29 July, Bangalore Police had informed the SIT chief and Delhi that Sivarasan, his associate Subha and seven

others were hiding in Indira Nagar.

The police got the information when they questioned Vicky at Coimbatore for

traffic violations. But the SIT waited for four days to act. If they had acted with NSG commandos on 29 July, they

could have caught Sivarasan and his associates alive. More than that, who offered the safe house for Sivarasan

and the gang in Bangalore?

It was unusual for Sivarasan, who is a trained LTTE operative, to go to Bangalore. It

was easy for him to reach Vedaranyam and go to Sri Lanka. But somebody might have assured him that in

Bangalore he could be safe.

When his body was found, there was a 9 mm pistol and an AK-47 near it. Who

provided these weapons to him? None of his associates could have done that. But no probe was conducted in this

regard. And the dead won’t speak in the court.

‘The police recovered Haribabu’s camera from the blast site. They could have developed the

film roll and identified the killers within five hours’

So are you saying that the SIT and the  Congress never wanted to expose the conspiracy behind the

murder?

Yes, I believe so. Right from the blast, there were repeated efforts to suppress evidence. It was not accidental but

deliberate. The police recovered Haribabu’s camera from the blast site. They could have developed the film roll and

identified the killers within five hours. Instead, the photographs mysteriously appeared in The Hindu on 25 May.

But The Hindu didn’t publish Sivarasan’s photograph till 29 May. Nobody probed how the newspaper got the

photographs taken by Haribabu, which was prime evidence in the investigation. Later, all the videos of the

Sriperumbudur meeting taken by three videographers were found to be tampered with and erased. The explanation

given by the SIT was that they erased the visuals by mistake. I don’t subscribe to their vague explanations.

Why have you decided to write a book on the Rajiv murder case after 20 years?

I’m now 69 and I have been practising law since 1970. It was never my intention to write a book on the Rajiv case. I

got involved with the case after many DMK cadres were detained by the police. I filed habeas corpus petitions in

the Madras High Court against the illegal detention. They were released immediately.

 Later, Nalini requested me to

appear for her in the trial court. When I took up her case, I knew it was a loser’s game. The court was hostile. The

SIT was behaving as if it was above the law. Confessions went against her. The public and media were against the

accused. I was told that I would get only 50 for appearing for Nalini. But I filed a petition for decent remuneration for

legal services in Madras High Court. I fought her case for eight years and went through all records, evidences and

cross-examined nearly 266 prosecution witnesses.

It was not an easy task. I was a leading lawyer who could have

made money with other cases. But I like to swim against the tide. After investing so much time and energy on this

case, I wanted to tell the world what went wrong in the Rajiv murder case. It will be a consolation for 19 innocent

people who spent almost eight years in jail without parole.

Even today, I feel that Rajiv Gandhi didn’t deserve a death like that. It was a cowardly act. You may disagree with

him politically. But he was warm-hearted and friendly. He was killed because he didn’t care about his security and

he never watched his back.
